I only use my mobile account and wire transfers can't be done there so I couldn't see. I asked if their computer (not mobile) login has this option to see exchange rates- they said no. I explained what I meant and she said, I have no clue what that would be but my manager says we go by what Visa says which is usually the rate of the day. One woman I spoke to said "usually there is no exchange rate." Wrong answer lol. I then called B of A and they had NO CLUE what exchange rates were and how they determine them. TransferWire was excellent with their exchange rate (giving me the exact Reuter's based amount) but had a $200 dollar fee on top of a fee with BofA for me to send the money to their account-double fees no thanks. Seems great, right? As you can imagine exchange rates help determine who you're going to send that money through. They'll internationally wire transfer my 25k with a $45 dollar fee. Anyway, after filtering through 3 different wire transfer services I realized Bank of America (where my $ is) seems to be the cheapest. I have usually sent smaller amount through Xoom but when I decided to send this heftier sum, they asked for my passport, SSN, income, last deposits slips and a whole set of other stuff I was not okay with sending (others have complained of this too w/ Xoom). So I am looking to transfer 25k to my account in Brazil.
